Now, it is time to talk about the culture of tonga. This is going to be a long talk.
Tonga and other other countries of Oceania, such as: Rotuma or Cook Islands, are part of the subregion called Polynesia. This means that Tonga inherited a small part of the polynesian culture and also share parts of its culture with other polynesian countries.
Now, we all now that Tonga was a British colony, right?
Well, all of you would expect that Tonga lost its native culture and took British culture, right?

If your answer is yes, then you are right. But if your answer is no, you should consider yes next time.
Tonga had some cultural appropiation from Britain, like the use of modern english in the country and also some ways of governement, however, this doesn't mean Tonga didn't get to conserve its old culture. Tonga shares both british and its own culture, but what is exactly Tonga's culture?
Well there are a lot of things that reflect the culture, but I am only going to say the important ones.
First we have the kava, the kava is a native drink prepared from the root of a pepper plant, something normal, not so unique. Then we have the activity named carving which is essentially the creatioon of figures or monuments using wood, people from Tonga is specially goood at this, although this is an activity shared all over the world. And finally we have me'etu'upaki, which is a popular paddle dance that consists of carrying boards painted with abstractions of the human body, this lets to massive opportunities to show two forms of art togther, paintings and dancing.

Such amazing activities and thing from the culture.
